Australia's North West Tourism has secured Kevin Sheedy as a keynote speaker at the inaugural Warlu Way Tourism Conference in Karratha on the 2nd and 3rd September, 2009.

The former Richmond AFL player and Essendon coach will share an insight into how dedication, perseverance and thoughtfulness enabled him to carve out a brilliant career in the highly competitive AFL environment.

According to ANW Chair, Ian Laurance AM "Kevin Sheedy's motivational story is inspirational and reflects the determination many successful regional tourism operators have had to apply to enable them to succeed in the tourism industry".

The conference is aimed at potential and existing tourism operators along the Indigenous drive trail — the Warlu Way — Western Australia's newest and most spectacular drive trail. This exciting and free event will bring a number of tourism professionals and key speakers to Karratha from all around Australia.

The Warlu Way is a 2,480 kilometre self-drive trail through Western Australia's spectacular Gascoyne, Pilbara and Kimberley regions. "The Warlu Way Drive Trail has been established, with the assistance of the Federal Government, to create a catalyst for inviting more people to come and visit this region and enjoy the experiences it has to offer.

" It also provides a focus for communities, towns and individuals to become involved in celebrating their culture and their landscape and engaging in tourism opportunities in the region." Said Mr Laurance.

The conference is also aimed at industry leaders and stake holders who want to see the region grow and flourish.

Registration is free and includes:
