Jahadi Indigenous Experiences ‘With Spirit’ Tour/interpretation of Aboriginal Tasmania culture Deloraine Tas
Jahadi Indigenous Experiences ‘With Spirit’Our business is a micro business – owned and operated by Hank and Carole Horton. We understand that our target audience is limited and have therefore developed collaborative arrangements with bus/tour companies who will bring visitors to our site at Deloraine. Our programs are designed to appeal to the older affluent Australian market who are interested in an understanding of Aboriginal Tasmanian culture. This strategy was developed in consultation with Indigenous Tourism Australia. Tours include a Smoke and Welcome to Country Ceremony with Jahadi elders, billy tea and damper. The tour is offered on a two hour or full day basis. The full day tour includes a visit to the Wet Cave.

Tang Dim Mer – National Park National Park Hobart Tas
Tang Dim Mer – National ParkThe richness of the area’s resources is shown by the vast cave middens that reveal the accumulated materials of 8,000 years of continuous occupation. These provide one of the largest and most complete records of the lifestyle of coastal Aboriginal people anywhere in Australia. The middens indicate that at various times seals, scale fish and a variety of shellfish were major items of food. Middens also reveal a range of tools used for gathering and preparing food and for other cultural activities. The area is visited frequently for cultural, spiritual and recreational purposes, and the Aboriginal community is actively involved in planning for its management.

This is not a definitive list of Indigenous tourism businesses. If you are not listed but would like to be or you would like to correct or update your details shown on the site – please contact your relevant State Tourism Organisation contact who can update your details.

The operator listings have been drawn from the National Indigenous Tourism Product Manual (NITPM) which was developed by Indigenous Tourism Australia with the assistance of the State and Territory Tourism Organisations (STOs) - to give Indigenous tourism operators the opportunity to showcase their products and experiences. The NITPM showcases Australia’s key 'export ready' and ‘market ready’ tourism products which are either majority Indigenous owned and/or operated. For more on the NITPM click here.

Also check out the case studies for more in-depth information on selected Indigenous tourism operators.
